Carissa Moore Takes Record Fifth World Title in Final at Lower Trestles

Carissa Moore won a record fifth WSL World Title at Lower Trestles on Saturday, surpassing Stephanie Gilmore's previous mark of four titles to become the most decorated women's surfer in Championship Tour history.

Moore, who has been vocal about returning to competitive surfing after her 2024 retirement announcement, needed only a second-place finish in the WSL Finals format to clinch the title. Molly Picklum, who had led the rankings for much of the season, was unable to close the gap in the final.

The victory marks Moore's first title since 2022 and comes after a deliberate focus on big wave surfing that she has credited with reinvigorating her competitive motivation. She was the oldest female surfer to win a world title in the modern era.
